Dr. Edwin N. Austin graduated with distinction from Stanford University with a BS in Biological Sciences, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and recipient of the American Heart Association Student Research Fellowship. While pursuing his medical degree at UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, Dr. Austin was an Alpha Omega Alpha member and was awarded The Gladys M. Shea Prize in Anatomical Sciences. He subsequently completed an internship and general surgery residency at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle, Washington. After general surgery training, Dr. Austin completed his post-graduate training as a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Dr. Austin is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He began his career at Skagit Valley Medical Center in Mount Vernon, Washington, and soon opened his own private practice in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Salem, Oregon. He has maintained his private practice since 1996 and has been in the practice since 1992. He holds clinical appointments at Salem Hospital, Northbank Surgical Center, and River Road Surgical Center. Dr. Austin also maintains affiliations with the following professional societies:

Dr. Austin continues to work with the medical community. He was appointed to the Continuing Medical Education Committee of Salem Hospital for over five years, during which time he served terms as Chairman and Grand Rounds Chairman. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Marion-Polk County Medical Society for 6 years.
