Dr. Austin will meet with you and have you undergo visual field studies. If you have completed “taped” and “un-taped” visual field testing and Dr. Austin deems your eyelid surgery medically necessary, your results will be forwarded to your insurance carrier to request prior authorization for blepharoplasty.

What Will Insurance Cover?

Insurance coverage varies between companies and policies. Your exact coverage will be determined by your insurance provider. If your request has been authorized, Dr. Austin’s staff will contact your insurance company to determine your out-of-pocket expense. Patients who qualify for insurance coverage may have some or all of the following covered:

• Facility fee
• Anesthesia fee
• Laboratory fees

Proceeding Without Insurance

There are cases where insurance simply won’t cover your procedure. In these cases, you may still choose to undergo eyelid surgery for clinical indications or aesthetic reasons.
