Facial rejuvenation is a term that describes a number of surgical and nonsurgical procedures designed to enhance the appearance of various parts of the face. These treatments are among our most popular services. They hold the potential for better facial symmetry, more open and friendly eyes, plump, youthful lips, and more. Our patients choose to undergo facial rejuvenation for a variety of aesthetic reasons, including to enhance naturally deficient contours and to correct the signs of aging. With careful planning and expert care, they enjoy natural-looking, long-lasting improvements.

Otoplasty is a selection of surgical techniques performed to improve the appearance of the ears. The procedure may be cosmetic or reconstructive, but does not affect hearing. The improvements achieved via otoplasty can have significant psychological benefits for children, teens, or adults who elect to undergo this procedure. These improvements, which include refinements to ear shape or size, can prevent or end teasing and facilitate optimal self-confidence in a patient of any age. Some of the concerns that can be corrected with otoplasty include:

  • Abnormal ear construction such as lop ear
  • Cauliflower ear, which results from repeated trauma
  • Microtia, abnormally small ears
  • Earlobes with large creases and wrinkles
  • Large, stretched or torn earlobes
  • Repair of skin cancer, severe injuries, or birth defects

Eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, is usually performed to achieve cosmetic improvements. The procedure can also achieve functional improvements when necessary. Eyelid surgery is also referred to as eyelid rejuvenation because it can significantly improve the appearance of the aging eyelid, either upper or lower. The skin around the eyes is thinner than other areas of the face and body, so it exhibits the signs of aging more quickly. The upper eyelids can become heavy and droopy. The lower eyelids may sag and become puffy. The blepharoplasty procedure involves hidden incisions and careful tissue trimming to smooth away loose and redundant skin. The results of a minimally-invasive procedure can last many years.

Every time we frown, laugh, squint, or use the muscles on our face, the skin moves. When the body is in active collagen-producing mode, these movements have only a temporary effect. We refer to laugh lines, creases around the eyes, and horizontal lines on the forehead as dynamic wrinkles because they disappear when the face is at rest. However, over time, dynamic wrinkles become static. They are ever-present because they are made over and over again and, as we pass our twenties, the body does not make enough collagen and elastin to offset these movements. The development of injectable fillers and wrinkle-reducers like BOTOX have made anti-aging more powerful and also more accessible.

Injectables have become a cornerstone of aesthetic medicine. We perform these treatments daily and always with great care. The products that are carefully selected can reduce various facial creases, including nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth, crow’s feet around the eyes, worry lines, frown lines, smile lines, and vertical lines around the mouth. Dermal fillers are also frequently used to plump naturally-thin or deflated lips. They can add roundness and height to the cheekbones. Injectables are also used to reshape the nose and lift an aging, low-lying brow line. At our office in Salem OR, patients have several different injectable filler options that provide the best possible results for their individual needs.
